Do you feel like you have to "warn" for who tops or bottoms in your slash stories?
I don't, but am I supposed to? Should I be?
I'd honestly have to go back and re-read all of my stories to tell you who tops or bottoms in each one, really and truly.
I don't keep track and it's not usually the main point of the story.

Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] firesign10

Post the first line of the last 20 fics posted, newest first.

What an interesting exercise this was! Seeing all the first lines all in one place is very cool. So many of them are dialogue.  And several are really really short. Hmmm, maybe I do have a writing style after all.

8.04sh to sh I knew I forgot to do something! In all the hub-bub of moving back to the States in the last couple of weeks, I completely forgot that I needed to find a beta for my Sam/Dean mini-bang story.
Anyone out there up for beta-ing for me?  We're scheduled for posting on the first day, 10/27. Thank you so very very muchly.

Sign ups open Sunday, May 5 for the first round of [livejournal.com profile] wincest_bigbang.
A fanfic and fanart challenge dedicated to the Winchester family!!!

Schedule
Author Sign Ups | Artist Sign Ups

Come on, you know you wanna write another long one this year! At least that's what I told myself as I signed up.  Hey why not? Now that I've written 3 long form stories, I know I can do it.  And hey, it's Wincest which as you know, you can't spell without W-I-N.

Writer rough draft isn't due until September 1st which might as well be next year it seems so far away at this point.

As of this writing I am planning on a Sam/Dean (who here is surprised? Really?) but I haven't a clue about what...and there's the fun isn't it?

So excited to be participating in [livejournal.com profile] spnj2_bigbang again this year, all those summaries and the excitement of artist choosing day got me all revved up about it.
Perhaps I wrote a slightly better summary this year because I got claimed the first day this time (pshew!) by the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] yanyann .  How cool, she's already on my f-list.  I spent the weekend adding and subtracting and just sent her my draft without too much teeth-gnashing involved. I can't wait to see what she comes up with for art.  Writing a story this long means the images have been sitting in my brain and are really clear and real to me, now to see if that came through in what I wrote for someone else...

I saw other people doing this so here's the summary for my story Sam/Dean (re-establishing established relationship) "Trelawny":

After a lot of pining and UST, Sam and Dean finally get around to re-kindling their relationship in their new, slightly more boring life (fic begins after all the Gates of Heaven, Hell and Purgatory have been closed.)  All thanks to a big beautiful three story house in Vermont on the top of a hill, that’s there and isn’t and sometimes disappears couples whose families don’t accept their love.  A Native American Fae case-fic that turns into a curtain-fic where all Sam and Dean’s remaining friends join them for a special event in their new home.

July 18th is our posting day!

A lot to do between now and then because this thing is already 42k and there's more to add to the story.,,

Oh my goodness, I actually finished my first draft and submitted it for the [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang.  Woohoo!
It was totally worth staying up until 2 AM last night to finish it off. I finally was able to write the part that was keeping me stuck.
I am feeling very accomplished, this is the longest thing I've ever written, a whopping 40k.
Sure hope my beta is ready...

Cheering on the rest of you that are still writing, Go Go Go!

Add this to the you learn something new everyday file.
I cannot believe that I truly did not know this, apparently because I learned to type on a typewriter (back in the day), one is no longer supposed to use two spaces after the period at the end of a sentence. It all has to do with proportional fonts. And the funny thing is I love fonts, but I guess I don't really know much about them.

But from here on out, there will be less spaces in my writing. And wow is this ever a challenge. I've been typing since 7th grade, I was twelve, that's 36 years of typing. When they brought in PC's to high school my senior year, those of us who knew how to type had an advantage. But no one ever mentioned all this business about proportional fonts.

So I apologize, for all of my online writings being WRONG. You were all so nice not to mention it too, very polite, thank you. No I am not going to go back and edit them all.

Posting begins 5/1

Pshew, I made it!  Submitted my draft today on the deadline day.  I don't know if I got across the combination of elements from The Adjustment Bureau mixed up with Supernatural well enough, but I think it hangs together as a story pretty well.  It's set at the end of season 2 through season 4 and is very AU and 9,800 words.  It's a Sam/Dean first-time, and forever kinda story.

Anybody feel like beta-ing for me?  I don't think having to have seen the movie is a requirement, in fact it might be better so that you could point out things I may have left out since I know the movie so well.  PM me if you have some time to look the story over.  Thanks!

A new community hosting fanworks inspired by the Winchester's new home base, The Bat Cave

How fun! A whole new community just for BatCave fic and art and such, I've just cross-posted my story "I'm Worth It" there.  There are some great contributions already posted, go check them out.  It's fun exploring this whole new place for Sam and Dean, I'm loving how this reboot has inspired so many writers and artists already.  I'm finishing up another BatCave related story, probably posting it tomorrow, related to solving the problem of Baby not having her own room!

Woot! Just submitted my draft for the [livejournal.com profile] genteensybang.  Right at the deadline too.  It was a close one, because I hadn't thought through a big portion of the story.  Still lots of work to do on it before the due date for draft to the artist.  Hope I described it well enough to entice an artist.  It was harder than I thought it would be to write something not just Sam/Dean, but I persevered and got it to a beginning middle end state in time.  Now to see to fixing up the many rough spots.

Well, I couldn't resist.  They were so cute, and pretty, and I liked the font (I'm a sucker for nice fonts).

So be on the lookout for more bingo fic fill writing from me, because I've signed up for two more bingo challenges.  Trope-Bingo and    longfic-bingo These are pretty long-term and open-ended, but they had lots of irresistibly inspiring prompts that I thought I'd be into trying out.  The randomness of being assigned a certain 25 to choose from is interesting to me.  Narrowing down choices is good for how my mind works.  My thought for how in the world to write all this fic is to first of all not pressure myself to do it perfectly or even score more than one bingo, but to use the prompts as inspiration and if it works out then cool, (ie don't get competitive or stressed-out or feel like I have to go for a blackout, this is supposed to be fun), Then secondly is to combine these two bingo cards with my    spn-pairing bingo  card when at all possible.  I think an Excel spreadsheet will likely be involved at some point to keep track of all of this.

Yes! I took the plunge and signed up for    [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang  !  It was so fun last year writing such a long story and getting such wonderful art to accompany it.  The whole experience was a good one.  I hope you'll sign up too.  The more fic the better in my opinion! The sign-up deadline is February 1.
I'm trying to decide between a few different story ideas, but it will all come down to Sam/Dean no doubt.  Possibly case!fic once again, since I liked writing that for the   [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang  But maybe another AU like last year's effort.  I never know whether it is better to have too many ideas or wish I only had one.  Better than having none at all I suppose.

I am toying with the idea of signing up for trope-bingo but it's on dreamwidth, which I haven't used yet.  It's honestly the only thing holding me back from signing up.  Do I need yet another venue where I'm participating in fandom? LJ, AO3, Tumblr already take up so much of my time.  Any of you use dreamwidth? Is it better than LJ?

Working on a couple things for   [livejournal.com profile] spnpairingbingo   one of which will also double as my entry for the   TeensyBangbannerghost  (writer signups end 1/31, so go sign up!).  The story I'm halfway through with is Ruby2/Anna...and so far so good.  This is my very first time writing something for SPN that isn't all Sam/Dean or Samn'Dean.  Let's just say my love for Anna is getting me through writing about Ruby2.  Another pairingbingo story I'm working on is a Krissy Chambers/Claire Novak,  writing such a funky pairing and SPN het for the first time is a challenge, but I'm liking how it's turning out so far...

I have yet another post 8.09 Sam/Dean story which I hope to post tomorrow if I can manage it, before it gets completely jossed by 8.10 (woohoo hiatus is almost over!).  It's h/c and also fix!it for season 8 so far.  So far, amazingly enough, neither the Samulet nor the Green Cooler have made an appearance (pshew).

Someday when I grow up I hope I can write dialogue a quarter as well as Quentin Tarantino, absolutely blown away by Django Unchained this weekend, as well as a re-watch of Inglorious Basterds.

I signed up to participate in the SPN/RPS Secret Santa exchange, you should too.  Only 1,000 words required...and you might get art or a vid back in return.  At first I thought it had to be holiday themed, but nope, I was wrong, that's another thing altogether.

Finally got my Sam/Dean mini bang off to my artist and my beta, pshew!  I had a hard time deciding where to end my story, really wrestled with it for quite a while.  Hopefully you'll think I ended it in the right place.

And in personal news, my household now includes a 9 month old puppy named Meg.  My teenager thought that would be a great name for her, and you know what, so far it suits her.  As long as her "you find a cause and you serve it" is me, it will all work out well.  Any and all puppy tips are welcome, I've never had such a young dog.  Oh, and she's a Corgi/Spaniel mix, from the good ol' SPCA.
